What are Google Sitelinks?

For a while now Google has been adding extra features to search results we receive in our Google search engines. One of these added features you may have seen, but not known what they were called, is below in the image.

These extra links we see under the listing are called Sitelinks and they help users navigate your site.

How Google creates these Sitelinks?
Google’s system analyzes the link structure of your site to find shortcuts that will save users time and allow them to quickly find the information they're looking for.

Google only shows Sitelinks for results when they think they'll be useful to the user. If the structure of your site doesn't allow Google’s algorithms to find good Sitelinks, or they don't think that the Sitelinks for your site are relevant for the user's query, they won't show them.

Can I create these Sitelinks myself for my website?
At the moment, Sitelinks are completely automated and generated by Google.

If you think that the Sitelinks displayed for your site are inappropriate or incorrect, you can block them so that they no longer appear by sending a request to Google. If you would like them blocked please contact Stephanie at stephanie@ismartsoftware.com

Once you've blocked or unblocked a Sitelink, it can take some time for your changes to be visible.

Note that Google only display Sitelinks when a site has a minimum of three Sitelinks available. If you have two or fewer unblocked Sitelinks, no Sitelinks at all will appear in Google search results for your site.
